Juicer Fund

When a member of our own Board of Directors was diagnosed with brain tumors, we all got together and presented her with a new juicer so she could fight her cancer with better nutrition. She loved it and is using it diligently. As a matter of fact, most of our Board members have some sort of juicing or smoothie discipline in their regular diet. We got to thinking about juicers and what they do and how what comes out of them is healthy for us all. So why not share that benefit with everyone, or at least as many people as we can?

At a recent nutritional program we conducted for Kaely's Kindness, a nonprofit organization for teen-age girls fighting cancer, we were able to present each of the girls in attendance a new NutriBullet blender to make healthy smoothies every day. The girls were given recipes and various healthy ingredients that day and they made smoothies in our kitchen classroom. Then they all took home their own magical nutrition maker. We want to do that more often. A lot more often. Each of these NutriBullets costs about $90 but provides valued nutrition to someone who otherwise might not be getting enough of it. There is no doubt that our diet is a significant factor to a healthy life and that vegetables are key ingredients. Please help us Help Our Communities Live Healthier with your donation to our Juicer Fund.

And if you are interested in getting a juicer, let us know by contacting us and we will see what we can do.

Recipes for Juicing and Smoothies:

My Green Monster: 1 whole cucumber, 1 cup spinach, 1 handful of kale, Handful of wheatgrass, 1 green apple, 1/2 of lime I always get asked, “Why juice, don’t you lose the fiber and protein?” My answer is this:

“Juicing removes all of the fiber and some of the protein from the plants you are juicing, yes. But this means that your body does not have to do any digestive work in order to extract the nutrients from your juice, as they are absorbed directly into your blood stream.”
So if your body is ill, if you have gut issues which according to the National Institute of Health, 70 million people have, then juicing would be a better choice for you.

My Medicine!! Smoothie 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 kale, half cup blueberries, bee pollen, pinch of ginger, pinch of tumeric (fresh or powdered), tablespoon of coconut oil. I usually add both almond milk and water then mix and enjoy! Its high antioxidant, high anti-inflammatory which are 2 key factors that I need so I don’t drink it just to drink it, I drink it for a purpose.

Morning Madness Smoothie Spinach or kale or some of both, about two handfuls Plain Greek yogurt, somewhere around 1/2 cup Banana, one half Avacado, one half Frozen organic berries (blueberry, pomegranate, etc.), fistful Almond milk, water, just enough to make it the consistency of a milk shake
I have also done my share of juicing in the past but I like smoothies much better. They taste better to me, are much easier and faster to make, require less volume of foods because there is no waste, and clean-up is ridiculously quick.
